Peacefully at home on Friday, September 3, 2010. Edna Adams, formerly of Madoc, in her 84th year. Wife of the late Christopher Adams. Mother of Ralph (Carole), Plainfield; Chris (Karen), Belleville; Larry (Maria), Belleville; and Linda (Robert) Curry, Springbrook. Sister of Norman Cassibo, Toronto; and the late Wilfred Cassibo and Vera Davies. Edna will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (nee Rowell). Second child of the late Robert and Zella Goheen. Loving father of P. Timothy of London; Daniel (Elena) of Columbia, South America; Robert (Marie) of Oshawa; James (Amy) of Maple Ridge, BC and Gwendolyn Walsh (Chris) of Trenton. Grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of Peter Goheen and his wife Magdelena of Trenton. John is survived by his mother-in-law Aileen Rowell of Hamilton; brother-in-law Fred Rowell, Halifax NS; sister-in-law Kathy Greening (Frank) and Lorna Rowell (Leo) both of Hamilton and Lillian Joan Rowell of Scottsdale, Arizona. Predeceased by his parents, his sisters Margaret McNeil and Gwendolyn Goheen and brother Ross Goheen. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Past President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 110; Director with the Halifax Aircraft Association. John served with the RCAF 432 Squadron during the Second World War as a Tail Gunner on the Halifax aircraft and continued to serve in the Canadian Forces in Communications until 1973. John Goheen was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 110 Trenton, a member of the 413 Wing Air Force Association and member of the Ex-Air-Gunners Association of Canada. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Peter's Church, Trenton on Tuesday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. Father Timothy Harrison officiating. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery. van der MEER, Sieger - Peacefully at Stirling Manor on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Grietje (nee Geertsma) for nearly 65 years. Son of the late Auke and Jantje van der Meer. Loving father of Arnold Vandermeer of Foxboro, Harold (Bea) Vandermeer of Ottawa, Jenny Vandermeer of Bowmanville, and Ann (Jim) Burkholder of Markham. Sieger is loved by his 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Wietse (Jantje) of Trenton, Oeds of Holland, Tilly Posthumus of Bowmanville and brother-in- law of Kenau of Holland. He is predeceased by his brothers Hans and Piet and by his sister Fetje Sikkema. He is also fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and extended family both here and in Holland. REILLEY, Ruth Olivia (Locke) -
She just celebrated her 80th birthday with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on August 13th, while in Thunder Bay for her grandson Peter's wedding. It was a joyous few days of family. Born in 1930 on a farm near Morrisburg, Ontario, Ruth never lost the values of the farming community, those of hospitality and a generous heart. She was married to Herschell Reilley (deceased 2001) for nearly 50 years. They did their best to raise their four daughters with love. Many happy years were spent in Knowlton, Quebec. Ruth had maintained friendships and remained in touch with friends from the Eastern Townships. Church was central to Ruth's life. She had a very strong faith and love of music. She composed poetry and music as a way of expressing her inner feelings. Ruth loved to cook and would often entertain family and friends. Ruth was a kind and caring person to so many. Left to mourn are children Michael & Karen Reilley (Adelaide, Australia), Suzan & Gil Labine (Thunder Bay), Rosemary Whyte & Rick Morrison (Ajax), Heather & David Cornish (Belleville) and Linda & Roli Tipper (Belleville). Grandchildren Ian & Nina Reilley (Australia), Edward Reilley (Chile), Stephanie & Kevin Adams (Thunder Bay), Lora & Kristian Galberg (Toronto), Kelly Labine (Thunder Bay), Julia Whyte (Toronto), Adam & Sherrie Tipper (Belleville), and Jeff Labine (Thunder Bay). Great grandchildren Xavier and Oscar Adams (Thunder Bay). Ruth is survived by her sister Catherine and brother-in-law Claire Brown, sister-in-law Isabel Locke, sister-in-law Peggy Mulligan, as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastminster United Church, 432 Bridge St., East, Belleville with visitation from 10 - 11:00 a.m. The family will have a private interment at a later date. Loving and devoted wife of R.A. Arnie for 66 years. The last of her family. Born in Star City, Saskatchewan on May 26th, 1924. Predeceased by her parents John and Maie Friesen, her three brothers, Vernon, Earl, and Bob and her baby sister Eileen. Her children Stephen (Wooler), Lindy (Belleville), Bob and Chris ( Nova Scotia), Maggie and Paul (Collingwood), Jane (Toronto), Fred and Abra (Durham), Jerry and Jeannie (Stockdale) and Dave and Tayna (Belleville) were blessed with the most loving of mothers. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harold Thompson and by her loving son, Michael (Anna) of Timmins. Predeceased by her cherished daughter Rosemary (Rick) Bradford. Also survived by her grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Jennifer (Jason) Kerr, Jillian (Tim) Murphy, Christopher Thompson, Julia Thompson and two great grandchildren who brought her great enjoyment, Makayla Rose Potter and Sophia Kerr. Sarah is also survived by her sisters Marie Hopkins (Late Curley) and Ann Louise Haney (late Blyth) and by her sister in law Josephine Gentile. Predeceased by her parents John and Rosina Gentile, her sisters Josephine (Fred) Angelotti, Winnifred (Ben) Rightmyer, Rose (William) Robison, Marguerite (Charles) Sharpe, her brothers Sam Gentile, Vince (Lois) Gentile and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was known as Aunt Sadie. Sarah was a very caring individual who loved her family dearly. In 1979, at age 51 Sarah turned to athletics and began competing in the Games for the Physically Disabled, at first locally and eventually nationally and internationally. Her career blossomed and eventually she set records at every meet she attended. The 100 or so medals that cover her walls attest to her success and make her family proud. In 1987, Sarah was inducted into the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame. Later she received the 1999 International Year of the Older Persons Award for the contributions and achievements made in her community where her hard work and commitment towards her goals served as an inspiration to all. One year later, Sarah was inducted to the Terry Fox Hall of Fame in Toronto. Sarah was a good friend to all who knew her. It is sad that today we lose such a fine lady. Known to his friends and family as Jim or Jimmy, he dedicated his life to helping people in need -- first as an undertaker, followed by a 28-year career serving the public in the police service, then in private security, and then through his final gesture of donating his lungs for transplant in hopes of bringing a better quality of life to the recipient. Born in Madoc, ON on June 22, 1929, Ralph spent 23 years in Belleville, ON and graduated from D.C.I.V.S. in 1949. In 1954, he married the girl next door, Elsie Walker (July 2009). He was employed by Personal Finance in 1953, which later changed names to Beneficial Finance, and remained with the company for the next 33 years, moving from Belleville, Toronto, New Toronto, Chatham and finally to Niagara Falls in July 1963, where he remained until his retirement in 1986. He is survived by his nephews Gary Sweetman of Niagara Falls, Stephan Sweetman of Belleville, Ross Cordes of New Brunswick, and niece Connie Murray of Kingston. Ralph & Elsie were ardent Witnesses of Jehovah for over 40 years and both looked forward to a time where they would be living in a paradise earth as God promised (Psalms 37:29), where there will be no pain, sorrow, or dying (Revelations 21:3-4). ANDERSON, James "Jim" Robert - Suddenly on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at age 56, after a long battle with mental illness. High school sweetheart of Wendy and loving father of Natalie and Rachel. Devoted son of Rod and the late Margaret, cherished brother of Brian (Arlene), and dear uncle of Jessie and Brent. Sorrowfully missed and fondly remembered by his aunts Lorraine Southwick and Dorothy Babiak of Toronto, and his many cousins, in-laws, and friends. Jim loved fresh air and exercise, which is why he enjoyed his job as a letter carrier with Canada Post for 28 years. He also loved golf, especially the armchair variety, and barbequing, medium rare. Jim was a voracious reader, expert at Trivial Pursuit, talented photographer, and passionate about classic rock. Arrangements under way in Wellington, with a private memorial in celebration of Jim’s life to be held at a later date. GARVEY, Bruce Nobel - (1939 - 2010) - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Bruce Noble Garvey on Sunday, August 1, 2010. After a courageous battle with cancer, Bruce passed away peacefully at home amongst family in Wellington, Ontario. Bruce was a talented and fearless journalist whose career spanned the world in both print and television media. He will remain in our hearts and be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife Celia, his children; Dan, Andrea (Stephen Bucic), Stephen (Liza Valentine) and Paul (Bonnie Fitzgerald) and his grandchildren; Kyla, Alison, Megan, Kristen, Colin, Victoria and Stephanie. Family will receive friends at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Main St., Wellington, Ontario, Saturday, August 7th at 1 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations

MATTHEWS, Donald Albert - In loving memory of Donald Albert Matthews, son of the late Mildred and Donald Matthews, Belleville, who died at Nanton, Alberta, August 1, 2010 at the age of 73. Brother of Doreen (Douglas, deceased) Bastedo, of Belleville, Nancy (Jack) Haggerty, Horseshoe Valley, Ontario. Predeceased by his sister Dianne and her husband Peter Griffin. Father of Maureen (Al Senior) Stratford, Ontario, Heather Matthews, London, Ontario and loving son, Shane (Maureen) Matthews of Dewinton, Alberta. Cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service will
take place Saturday, September 4th at 11:30 am at Belleville Cemetery,

Daughter of the late Donald and Vera Masterson (nee Grotto). Beloved wife of Gary Samuel Tapp. Dear mother of Sherry Lynn Reid, husband John, grandchildren Krystal-Elaine, Courtney and Erica Reid of Belleville. Great Grandmother of Krystal-Elaine and Shaun Olsen, Riley, Kiersten, Blake of Trenton. Mother of Christopher Wayne Tapp and wife Lori, grandchildren Curtis and Erin Tapp of Stirling and Patricia Ann Tapp of Belleville. Dear sister to the late June Ann Marlene Hughes and dear sister to Nancy Elizabeth Maillette and husband Joe of Trenton. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Survived by brother in law Albert Tapp and wife Joan of Barrie, Norman Tapp, wife Shirley of Hillier, Ronald Tapp, wife Sharron of Belleville, Gerald Tapp, wife Joanne of Ottawa and sister in law Linda Brant and husband Wayne of Ottawa. Also loved by many nieces and nephews on the Tapp side of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Thursday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Christ Church Cemetery, Hillier.
